Our Relationship with McDonald’s

RMHC Mission Partner Since 1974

From the moment the doors opened at the first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia, PA, the McDonald’s System including owner/operators, suppliers, employees and customers, have called our mission their own.  For 40 years, the entire system has opened their hearts to us, providing invaluable support and fueling our growth from one House helping a few families into a multi-national network of family-centered programs serving more than seven million children and families annually.

Today, we are stronger than ever due in large part to the continued outpouring of resources from our Mission Partner, McDonald’s. Their unwavering support, extending from monetary contributions to volunteerism; from board participation to media donations, has helped us impact countless lives by giving children support, stability and the best medicine of all – their families.

Thank you, McDonald’s, for 40 years of helping children heal with their families by their side.

Although the McDonald’s system is our largest corporate partner, RMHC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation and no one company can solely fund the growth of RMHC programs and services necessary to serve more families. We also rely on the support of the entire community and greatly value any donations you can afford to RMHC, whether it’s through cash and/or in-kind contributions, your time or fundraising efforts.

McDonald’s (Ireland) support of RMHC Ireland takes many forms.

A portion of the annual administration costs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland are graciously funded by McDonald’s and owner/operators of local McDonald’s restaurants. The remainder of our annual operating income comes from the generosity of individual and corporate donors.

Collectively McDonald’s use their restaurants to create customer awareness and support for the charity. Staff and owner/operators participate on our Board and volunteer their time. Donation boxes in the restaurants form the largest source of ongoing fundraising. McDonald’s Customers generously donate via these Donation Boxes.

McDonald’s conducts a world-wide fundraiser annually – McHappy Day. In Ireland all McDonald’s Stores donate €1 for every Big Mac sold on this Day. They also facilitate two Instore Campaigns (May & November) whereby McDonald’s Customers buy an item (Plaster Packs / Santa Hats) with all proceeds from these sales going directly to RMHC Ireland.

McDonald’s in Ireland kindly support our fundraising events – House Cycle (April), RMHC Golf Classic (June), #Walking4Families (September) Gala Ball (November)

Staff from many McDonald’s Restaurants support our #Cooking4Families Programme by cooking or donating product on a regular basis.

Many thanks McDonald’s Ireland for supporting our mission every day #KeepingFamiliesClose
